Match Action:

Derek Lilley challenges Goole keeper Buxton

Brian McCrystal defends well after coming on as a substitute

Goole AFC had been formed after the demise of Goole Town and for a while it appeared they were going to surprise the United Reserve team. Miller had given them the lead in the sixteenth minute after they had broke quickly following a Leeds corner and had scored with a fine angled volley. They held that lead past the half-time break, which saw Lee Matthews replace Wes Boyle, and five minutes into the second half Bruno Ribeiro equalized when he was on hand to fire home the rebound after home keeper Buxton had made a fine save from a tremendous shot from Kevin Dixon but could not hold on to it. It was not long before Goole regained the lead, when Jones scored their second six minutes later following a corner. The lead lasted just five minutes, as after Jamie McMaster had replaced Simon Watson on the hour mark, one minute later Tommy Narvik forced Buxton to make another fine save at the expense of a corner with a shot from twenty yards. Kevin Dixon took the corner and he found the head of Mark Jackson who headed on to Derek Lilley who scored with a header from close range. Bruno Ribeiro gave United the lead for the first time in the seventieth minute with an angled shot from the left. Bryan McCrystal replaced Kevin Evans at Centre Half two minutes later and Lee Matthews got United's fourth five minutes later when he got on the end of a David Robertson low centre. Bruno Ribeiro rounded off the scoring after eighty minutes with a fine volley from the edge of the area and two minutes later Brian Lagan replaced Kevin Dixon at Right Half for the final few minutes. Chad Harpur remained on the bench as the unused goalkeeper substitute
